The global supply and availability of energy is but one variable - albeit an important one - that will determine the future of global security in the 21st Century. Others include challenges to governance, a crisis prone global economy, demographic patterns, the impact of technology, and mounting pressures on resources such as water and food. This lecture will examine the so-called "drivers" of change in the 21st Century, the dimensions of the current "energy revolution," winners and losers from this revolutions, and implications for the United States and Japan of these dramatic changes.The lecture will be followed by QA session.
