Overview

The role of scientific advice in policy-making has been attracting more and more attention these years. Many countries are facing complicated policy challenges in such areas as environment, energy, and health and medical service, and government officials are increasingly relying on scientific advice in coping with these challenges.
The OECD Global Science Forum (GSF) has been engaging in international effort to examine the role of scientific advice and the responsibility of scientists. As part of the activity, this international workshop will be held on October 22. This workshop aims at deepening mutual understanding about the role of scientific advice through international discussion as well as discussing the future direction of GSF's activity. Furthermore, speeches by keynote speakers will contribute to increased awareness in Japan of recent global trends surrounding this theme.
