+Ms. Chiharu ITO, GIST Master's Program, made a presentation on Innovation in Developing Countries

Ms. Chiharu ITO, GIST Master's Program, made a presentation on Innovation in Development Countries in an "ICT for Developoment Lab Open Study Meeting."

She introduced Sciene, Technology and Innovation for thinking ICT in developing countries. She included Grassroots Innovation, Inclusive Innovation, and Frugal Innovation in her talk to ensure that anyone can be involved in innovation. She concluded the presentation by saying "technologies cannot be used in society by themselves; the people who accept the technologies and the approaches that meet the socciety are needed." Her presentation was based on what she learned at GIST classes, such as the texts of "the moon and the ghetto" and "Introduction to Innovation Management" and her research on makers' movement conducted together with her mentor at GIST program.

The online meeting titled "ICT4D and Innovation" was held on May 30, 2020 with about 180 participants. ICT for Development is an organization that shares information, holds lecture series, and provides advice to companies. Ms. Ito joined GIST to study the mechanism of how technologies solve social problems in developing countries.
