Outline:
The changing nature of armed conflict, which is increasingly multilayered and multipolar, warrants alternative approaches to solving it. Digital and innovative approaches have been spearheaded by research institutes, human rights groups, and citizen journalists utilizing remote sensing, crowdsourcing, artificial intelligence, and other tools to analyze risks for early warning, monitor and report on violence, identify hotspots for aid delivery, and facilitate inclusive dialogue. This lecture introduces some of these emerging techniques and their effect.
