1) Swiss initiatives in science diplomacy: background, current situation, future vision and challenges; 2) Aims, strategies, and detailed activities of swissnex Boston and its position in Swiss national S&T and diplomatic policy
swissnex Boston, established as the world's first "science consulate" in 2000, is part of a global network of five knowledge outposts including San Francisco (2003), Singapore (2004), China (2007) and India (2009). The mission of swissnex Boston is to promote knowledge exchanges between Switzerland and North America in higher education, technology, innovation, science and the arts. By enabling research collaborations, innovation promotion, best-practice exchange and skills training, swissnex Boston fosters the idea-generation and cooperation inherent in modern-day science diplomacy. As a public-private partnership, swissnex Boston thrives on collaborating with and learning from the partners, who range from Switzerland's top universities and multinationals to high-tech startups and groundbreaking researchers.
